  • Does your child love to make art?  Because in Arlington, VA at Aurora Hill Library we are offering a Free "Digital Art" class from 12-1pm Saturday, January 13-May 5th, 2018. This is the best way for your child to connect with their artistic side outside the classroom!

    This program teaches kids the importance of storylines, concept art, and design. Starting with pencil and paper sketches, students will take their art to the computer using programs like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. The finished product will be a digitally polished comic strip!

  • This seminar covers many post-production tools and techniques required to create impressive content. We will take a quick look at basic and advanced features in Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, Audition, Bridge and Media Encoder. 

    If you are new to one or all of those applications, this seminar will give you a good introduction and overview of powerful post-production techniques and if you have been using one or all of those applications, this course will cover many advanced features and concepts you'll need to create top-notch visual content.

    Faith & Finances Facilitator Certification Course

    Limited to 16 Participants

    Faith & Finances
    training equips your church to help the materially poor in a way that leads to long-term change. By starting Faith & Finances, your church can walk alongside low-income people as they overcome financial obstacles and steward the gifts God has given them.

    Created by the Chalmers Center, Faith & Finances facilitator training will equip you with the confidence and skills to:

    • Create a financial education ministry plan tailored to your community

    • Mobilize people in your church to build authentic, supportive relationships with people who are poor

    • Walk alongside low-income people as they make practical changes in their finances

    • Apply the principles of When Helping Hurts in your context


    • Through January 14th - $450

    • January 15th forward - $500

    Registration fee is non-refundable and nontransferable once the online course begins on February 2, 2018.

    Note: This training is for facilitators who will be leading the course themselves, not simply representatives from a particular ministry.

    For certification as a Faith & Finances facilitator, you must:

    • Register and agree to the requirements in the Training Agreement

    • Complete 4-week online orientation that begins February 2 - March 5, 2018

    • Attend the live training at Wallace Presbytieran Church in College Park, MD on March 8 - 9, 2018 where you will network with other facilitators and:

      • Discuss best practices in adult education and the financial literacy climate for low-income people

      • Practice using the Faith & Finances Facilitator Guide

    • Report back annually to Chalmers to maintain a two-year certification

  • Following the success of previous workshops in Europe and Asia, we are pleased to announce  a new 5W ACADEMY workshop in Washington DC.

    This two-day workshop is a comprehensive introduction to the creation of infographics and data visualization. With a mix of theory and practice, the workshop is aimed at professionals and students interested in developing the skills to produce engaging, insightful visual storytelling with their content.

    We will learn how to gather and prepare data, the Do’s and Dont’s of working with numerical information and charts, and the principles of visual hierarchy, color, typography, illustration, and narrative to create impactful infographics.

    Attendees will sketch out infographics, storyboard motion graphics and create/publish their interactive data visualizations and web maps with the help of Tableau Public. The class will discuss multiple award-winning projects and offer an overview of essential tools and strategies for creating engaging infographics and data visualization.

    PAYMENT - Payments are processed through using a credit card. If you or your organization prefer to make a booking through an invoice process (electronic payment transfer or check) please email to process your registration.

    CLASS SIZE - The class size is typically around 25-30 people.

    TIMES - We’ll start at 9:30 am and finish around 5:00 pm. There will be breaks in the morning and afternoon sessions and a lunch break of around 50 minutes.

    LAPTOPS - You are encouraged to bring a wireless-enabled laptop with the free Tableau Public software installed. Adobe Illustrator is useful but not required (you can use a free trial version).

    REFRESHMENTS - Coffe and pastries or light snacks will be available on arrival and during breaks. Lunch is on your own. The venue is located with convenient access to multiple food establishments.

    STUDENT CANCELLATIONS - 100% refunds are offered for cancellations UNLESS the event is less than 20 days away in which case a 50% refund will be offered.
